Products on Amazon US That Require Direct TIC Validation

Update time : 2025-11-09

Amazon US recently introduced the Direct Validationrequirement via TIC (Testing, Inspection, and Certification), and it has quickly become a hot topic in the cross-border e-commerce community! The core of this new regulation is: for certain product categories, compliance verification must be conducted directly by Amazon-approved third-party testing institutions (TICs). Sellers can no longer simply upload compliance reports themselves as they did before.

In simple terms, Amazon has brought in “officially certified” third-party testing institutions as gatekeepers to strictly control product quality and safety. These TICs are responsible for professionally verifying sellers’ products and submitting the results directly to Amazon, without any intervention from the sellers.

Key Points of the New Regulation

From current implementation, the scope of the new rule is clear: it focuses on the US marketplaceand covers categories such as:

① Electric transportation equipment

② Dietary supplements

③ Ophthalmic products

④ Skin whitening products

⑤ Children’s toys

Amazon also explicitly stated that more categories and marketplaces will be added in the future. This means that even if your current products aren’t on the affected list, sellers in related categories such as 3C electronics, beauty, and health products should stay updated and prepare in advance.

The biggest difference from traditional compliance processes is the shift of initiative. Previously, sellers could choose their labs and upload reports independently. Now, verification must be done through Amazon-designated TICs, and sellers cannot upload any compliance files themselves—all results are directly synced to Amazon.

Although this adds a step to the process, it ensures that product safety is controlled at the source. For compliant sellers, it can reduce repeated communication due to rejected reports.

Direct Impact on Sellers

The regulation has a direct and clear impacton sellers, summarized in two scenarios:

1. Compliant products: If the TIC verification confirms that your product meets Amazon’s policy, no further action is required. Your product can continue selling on the US marketplace, and you won’t need to resubmit documents.

2. Non-compliant products: If verification isn’t started in time, testing isn’t completed, or the product fails compliance, Amazon will remove the product listing.

It’s especially important to note that the new rule applies not only to new products but primarily to products already on sale. Many sellers reported receiving clear verification reminders in the “Manage Your Compliance” page. Failure to respond promptly may result in ASIN delisting—this is why sellers in affected categories are rushing to complete TIC verification.

Common Seller Questions

Are my previous test reports still valid?

A:Reports from qualified labs that meet Amazon policy requirements are still valid. However, TICs will review the report’s authenticity and completeness. Reports with false information or incomplete test items may still be rejected.

Is there a grace period for this new regulation?

A:Amazon generally provides a grace period for product compliance. You can check the specific compliance deadline for each ASIN in your Account Health Dashboard (AHD).

What if I believe my product has been misclassified?

A:On the verification reminder page, select “Appeal Request”. In the additional comments, explain why you believe the product has been misidentified or why the requirement does not apply. Submit the request. Amazon will review your appeal and contact you via email for further information if needed. If approved, your ASIN will be reinstated without testing.

What if my appeal is rejected?

A:Amazon will provide the reason via email. You will need to take corrective action:

① If the issue is product misclassification, provide supporting materials to prove the product attributes.

② If the issue is non-compliance, retest the product through a TIC to ensure it meets the requirements before resubmitting.

Amazon’s Direct TIC Validation is essentially an upgrade to the platform’s compliance system. For sellers, rather than worrying about whether the process is cumbersome, it’s better to view it as an opportunity to filter for high-quality sellers and avoid compliance risks.
