Recently, Amazon introduced a new TIC Direct Validationpolicy. Certain product categories and compliance requirements now require direct validation by Amazon-approved Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) bodies. This means the traditional method of uploading compliance reports or related certificates yourself is no longer sufficient; you must rely on validation resULts from TIC agencies. Below is a compilation of frequently asked questions to help sellers quickly understand the new requirements.
TIC (Testing, Inspection, and Certification) refers to Amazon-approved testing, inspection, and certification bodies.
The TIC Direct Validation programis a collaboration between Amazon and selected third-party service providers. It requires that sellers’ product compliance information be directly uploaded to Amazon by these agencies, rather than by the sellers themselves. This initiative aims to enhance the authenticity and authority of compliance data, ensuring consumer safety and product compliance.
① Enhance compliance assurance:Verification by authoritative third-party testing agencies ensures the accuracy and professionalism of uploaded documents.
② Increase platform efficiency:TIC agencies upload the data uniformly, REDucing communication costs between sellers and Amazon regarding compliance.
③ Reduce violation risks:Avoid issues like product removal or account restrictions caused by incorrect or non-compliant self-uploaded documents.
Reports from other labs that meet national or international standards (e.g., ISO17025-accredited labs) may still hold reference value, but they cannot be directly uploaded to Amazon. Submission must go through an Amazon-approved TIC agency.
You can submit your existing test reports to a TIC agency for validation and upload. If the testing meets the requirements, the TIC agency may recognize the report and convert it into the format and submission channel required by Amazon.
> Tip:Since TIC agency testing fees are high, sellers can have tests done at a lab like JJR, then let JJR coordinate with a TIC agency for upload. This can save about 40% of costs.
Amazon requires that compliance data be directly validated and submitted by a TIC agency. Sellers can no longer complete the process through self-upload. This ensures the authenticity and consistency of compliance information.
Direct Validationis not just about test results. It also involves the authority of the report source and the proper submission channel. Even if you already have a compliant report, it must be uploaded by a TIC agency to meet Amazon’s compliance requirements.
Currently, Direct Validation mainly applies to certain categories and high-risk products, such as:
① Electrically powered products
② Children’s toys
③ Food-contact items
Not all products require Direct Validation. Amazon determines requirements based on the product category and compliance regulations.
You can appeal to Amazonand provide relevant documentation and explanations for your product. If approved, Amazon may update the product classification or waive the validation requirement. Until official confirmation, products must comply with the validation requirement.
Based on current implementation, the new policy primarily affects the US marketplace. Categories and affected Amazon sites include:
① Dietary Supplements:US
② Electric Mobility Device Accessories:US, Canada
③ Electric Mobility Devices:US, Canada
④ OphthalMIC Products:US
⑤ Skin Whitening Products:US
