TEMU EU Battery Products Must Submit CE Battery Certificate

Attention TEMU European Sellers:

According to EU regULatory requirements, the TEMU platform plans to enforce CE-Battery control for battery-only and battery-containing electronic products.

Recently, many TEMU sellers received the following notice:

Dear Merchant,

In accordance with EU regulatory requirements, the platform plans to implement CE-Battery control for battery-only and battery-containing electronic products.

Scope of Control:  

This applies to all battery types being sold on the platform, including:  

- Pure batteries  

- Lithium batteries  

- Nickel-cadmium (NiCd) batteries  

- Lead-acid batteries  

- Gas batteries  

Testing Requirements:  

According to EU Regulation 2023/1542, battery samples must be tested for the content of lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), and mercury (Hg). The testing results must comply with the restrictions outlined in EU Regulation 2023/1542:  

- Mercury (Hg) content must not exceed 0.0005% by weight  

- Lead (Pb) content must not exceed 0.01% by weight  

- Cadmium (Cd) content must not exceed 0.002% by weight  

Control Timeline:  

The platform will begin removing products in December, so sellers need to act quickly to avoid losses.  

- By December 17, products containing batteries without CE-Battery certification will be removed.  

- By December 8, pure battery products without CE-Battery certification will be removed. For example, solar-poweRED lamps listed with incorrect power source selection as "pure battery" should be corrected as soon as possible.  

Additional Notes:  

1. Products without batteries or those that have already removed the battery are not affected.  

2. CE-Battery certification is different from Battery certification and is not interchangeable. This certification primarily tests for harmful substances.
