UL1647 Compliance Certification for Massage Devices on Amazon US

Recently, many customers have faced issues with their massage guns and massager products being removed from Amazon and TEMU platforms. The platforms now require a UL1647 test report, which must be issued by an ISO 17025 accREDited laboratory. Previously, our Chinese JJR laboratory has shared multiple articles regarding UL compliance requirements for electronic products. Today, we will focus on how to obtain UL1647 certification for fitness equipment products.

Scope of ul 1647 Standard:

1. UL1647 applies to electric massagers and fitness equipment, such as massaging vibrators, exercise bikes, vibration chairs, and massage chairs.

2. These requirements also apply to electric massagers and fitness equipment where the movement of working components is generated by electric devices, such as massaging vibrators.

3. These requirements do not apply to equipment with a rated voltage higher than 250V.

4. If a product has characteristics, properties, parts, materials, or systems that are not covered by this safety standard or differ from this standard, and these features may cause fire, electric shock, or other safety hazards, then additional tests for the parts and complete unit should be conducted following the original intent of this standard to meet its requirements. If these features are confirmed to be reasonable, the standard should be revised and the testing methods incorporated into the standard.

How to Apply for Approval to Sell Massager Products:

Amazon’s policy requires that mobile power products sold through Amazon’s website meet specific certification standards. If Amazon contacts you, please submit the following information to electronics-safety@amazon.com:

1. Company name

2. Seller ID/ Supplier code

3. Email address

4. Phone number

5. List of ASINs you are applying to sell

6. Product images and manuals (if applicable) (images should include all relevant safety information, compliance marks, and product details)

The test report issued by an ILAC ISO 17025 accredited laboratory confirming that each product has been tested.

UL1647 Certification Process:

1. Submit the application form to JJR Laboratory in China.

2. Provide product documentation.

3. Send samples and make the payment.

4. Once testing is passed, an electronic report will be issued for customer confirmation.

5. ul report/certification will be issued and uploaded to Amazon by the customer.

6. Amazon reviews and approves, and the case is closed.
