Introduction to Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7

Wi-Fi 6E

Wi-Fi 6E is an extension of Wi-Fi 6 into the 6GHz band. In "Wi-Fi 6E", the "6" represents the 6th generationof Wi-Fi technology, and the "E" stands for Extended, signifying its use of a new frequency band—offering significant performance advantages.

As with existing Wi-Fi bands, the availability and regulations of the 6GHz spectrum vary by region:

1. Europe: 5.925GHz – 6.425GHz

2. United States: 5.925GHz – 7.125GHz

Wi-Fi 7

Wi-Fi 7, based on the 802.11bestandard, is the latest evolution in Wi-Fi technology, expected to be officially adopted in 2024. Development has been ongoing since 2021.

Key features of Wi-Fi 7 include:

1. Doubling of channel bandwidth to 320MHz

2. Higher QAM (4096-QAM)

3. Increased spatial streams

4. Theoretical throughput up to 30 Gbps
