The full name of SAR is Specific Absorption Rate. It represents the electromagnetic wave energy absorbed or consumed per unit mass of human tissue, expressed in units of W/Kg or mw/g. It refers to the measurement of the rate at which energy is absorbed by the human body when exposed to a radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic field.
sar testing is primarily targeted at products with wireless transmitters where the antenna is within 20cm of the human body, aiming to protect us from harm caused by wireless devices exceeding RF transmission limits. However, not all products with wireless transmitting antennas within 20cm of the human body require sar testing. For products that meet the above conditions but have very low power, various countries have an alternative testing method, known as MPE evaluation. We refer to the power level that falls between these two testing standards as the exemption limit, and these exemption limits vary by country.
SAR testing is mainly divided into three major parts: tissue validation, system validation, and DUT test. Normally, sales personnel will evaluate the testing cycle based on the customer's specific products and the number of frequency bands. Additionally, there is a reporting cycle and a certification cycle, ultimately providing the customer with a total time frame. The more frequency bands there are, the longer the cycle will be; of course, this cycle remains within an acceptable range.
The testing facility is equipped with two sets of SAR equipment, which can minimize the testing cycle to the greatest extent possible to meet the testing needs of more customers, as well as the demands of urgent projects. Furthermore, the testing frequency covers 30MHz to 6GHz, encompassing almost all devices on the market, ensuring no product is excluded from testing due to a limited frequency range. In particular, with the rapid popularization of 5G WIFI products in the market, as well as the testing of low-frequency (136-174MHz) products, our testing services can excellently assist customers in resolving testing and certification issues, enabling their products to smoothly enter foreign markets.
The only laboratory in the Greater China region offering VHF Band SAR testing, and one of the few laboratories providing 5G Bands testing.
Different products and different countries have varying requirements for SAR limits and testing frequency bands.
