Regulated Product Scope

This specifically targets jewelry worn by consumers over 12 years old, including:

Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings, brooches, anklets, body piercing jewelry (ear studs, navel rings, nose rings, etc.), cufflinks, hair accessories, accessories in direct contact with the skin, alloy hair accessories, resin pendants, diamond-studded plastic accessories, and other decorative jewelry.

Exemptions (Not Applicable to):

• Children's jewelry (The stricter astm f2923 standard applies to ages 12 and under).

• Accessory products (Handbags, belts, apparel, footwear).

• Functional items (Keychains, watches, and other items whose primary function is not decorative).

Adult jewelry testing Requirements

Platforms have strict controls over products. In addition to ASTM F2999-19, other standards may also need to be tested. The testing requirements are as follows:

• Total cadmium content < 1.5% (15,000 ppm) is qualified. If it exceeds this limit, further testing is required:

• Body piercing jewelry: ≤ 0.2 μg/cm²/week

• Metal components in direct and prolonged contact with the skin: ≤ 0.5 μg/cm²/week

Lead content in product surface paints, enamels, electroplated color coatings, and printing inks:

• Lead in dried paint film ≤ 90 ppm (0.009%).

• Electroplated metal substrates: Total lead ≤ 6.0% (60,000 ppm)
