Amazon has released new compliance requirements for Lithium Battery Powered Home Appliances, integrating relevant products into the Direct Validation (DV) mechanism.

For notified ASINs, sellers must complete document reviews or product testing through an Amazon-approved third-party Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) organization. The verification results will be submitted directly to Amazon by the TIC. Sellers can no longer complete the review by uploading reports themselves.

For lithium battery-powered home appliances, the platform focuses not only on the safety of the complete machine but also on the lithium batteries, chargers, transportation safety, and the consistency between product information and reports.

Floor Cleaning Category

• Vacuum Cleaners: (Typically evaluated for safety according to ul 1017, CSA C22.2 No. 243)

• Robot Vacuums / Smart Cleaning Appliances: (Typically evaluated for safety according to UL 1017, CSA C22.2 No. 243; specifics depend on product functions)

• Steam Mops: (ul 499, CSA C22.2 No. 64)

Kitchen Small Electric Appliances

Compliance Requirements for Lithium Battery Powered Home Appliances

In addition to complete machine safety standards, Amazon also requires the batteries and chargers of relevant products to comply with corresponding standards, specifically as follows:

• Complete Machine Safety: Products sold in the US or Canada will be subject to applicable UL or CSA safety standards based on the product category, such as UL 1017, UL 982, UL 507, UL 998, UL 859, and corresponding CSA standards.

• Battery Cells: Generally focuses on cell safety requirements like ul 1642.

• Battery Packs: Generally focuses on portable sealed battery safety requirements like ul 2054 or UL/CSA 62133-2.

• Battery Transportation: Typically requires a un38.3 test report and Battery Test Summary (BTS).

Special Attention Required: All test reports used for Amazon DV review typically must be issued by an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory (e.g., JJR LAB). Furthermore, the report content, model numbers, nameplates, product images, manuals, and ASIN information must be completely consistent.

How Sellers Should Respond After Receiving a DV Notice

If a seller receives an Amazon DV notice, they typically need to follow these steps:

1. Select an Amazon-approved TIC organization.

2. Provide product samples or existing test reports (valid within 12 months).

3. Have the TIC organization conduct a review or supplementary testing.

4. Allow the TIC organization to submit the validation results directly to Amazon.

Warning: If the product fails testing or document review, the relevant listing may be immediately suspended or removed.
