Update time : 2024-06-19

In today’s workplaces, personal protective equipment (PPE) is crucial for safeguarding workers. Among these, gloves are one of the most basic forms of protection, playing a key role in shielding workers from cheMICals, mechanical injuries, and other hazards. Personal protective gloves for the European market must meet stringent CE certification standards to ensure their quality and performance.

About CE Certification

The "CE" mark is a safety certification mark consideRED as a passport for manufacturers to access and enter the European market. In the EU market, the "CE" mark is a mandatory certification mark. Whether produced domestically or abroad, products must have the "CE" mark to circULate freely in the EU market, indicating that the product meets the essential requirements of the EU's New Approach Directives on technical harmonization and standardization.

The PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Directive under the CE certification system covers all equipment used for personal protection, and gloves are a very typical type of PPE that must be ce certified for export to the EU.

Product Classification

The CE certification-PPE Personal Protective Directive classifies product risk levels into three categories:

- Category I PPE: Protection against minimal risks, such as gardening gloves.

- Category II PPE: Protection against intermediate risks, such as mechanical gloves and cold-protection gloves.

- Category III PPE: Protection against serious risks, such as firefighter gloves and chemical-resistant gloves.

All categories of PPE must be tested according to relevant standards to prove compliance with the PPE directive's requirements. Category II and III PPE products must also be certified by a designated body.

Applicable Regulations

Protective gloves exported to the EU must comply with the PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425 Personal Protective Equipment regulation.

Product Certification Requirements

- Basic Requirements: Gloves must meet the essential requirements of the European PPE Directive to ensure their design and manufacture provide effective protection.

- Performance Evaluation: Gloves' performance must be evaluated through a series of standardized tests, including abrasion resistance, puncture resistance, and chemical resistance.

- Material Selection: The materials used in gloves must meet relevant European standards to ensure their safety and reliability.

- Marking and Labeling: The ce mark must be clearly visible on the gloves, and the gloves must be labeled with corresponding information, including manufacturer details, product model, and specifications.

Product Certification Process

1. Fill out the application form.

2. Provide necessary documentation (a checklist of documents will be provided by us).

3. Conduct sample testing according to EU standards.

4. Manufacturers prepare technical documentation.

Once testing is passed and technical documentation meets regulatory requirements, the ce certificate is issued, and the CE mark can be affixed to the gloves.
