Information Technology Products 

Depending on their functions, information technology products must comply with regulations covering safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), telecommunications, and wireless spectrum. Almost all products are required to meet safety and EMC regulations. Telecommunications regulations are applicable only when the product interfaces with communication networks, and wireless spectrum compliance is necessary only if the product uses wireless transmission.

The design trend for IT products is moving toward lighter, thinner, shorter, and smaller forms. Generally, smaller designs make it more challenging to meet standard requirements. Products using cathode-ray tubes (CRT) must meet X-ray safety requirements, and products utilizing lasers must also consider laser safety.

IT products are often designed for global markets and typically use DC power or wide-range 100–240VAC power supplies. A CB Report obtained through safety certification is widely recognized in most countries.
