On October 5, 2025, the 2025 version of the four mandatory national standards under GB 6675.1 to GB 6675.4 Safety of Toys was published. This series of standards has been comprehensively updated and expanded across mechanical and physical properties, flammability, chemical properties, electrical properties, hygiene requirements, radiation properties, and toy labeling. The new GB 6675-2025 series standards will officially take effect on November 1, 2026.
Based on thorough research into the current technical development status of China's toy industry and benchmarking against international standards such as ISO and EU regulations, the 2025 version of the GB 6675 Safety of Toys series standards has fully upgraded the technical safety requirements and test methods for toy products. It specifically considers the safety control of popular new online-trending toys such as "squeeze toys" and "crystal slime." The main updates are as follows:
Added technical requirements for new products such as naked flame device toys and food-shaped toys. Optimized specific requirements and testing methods in the original standard for sub-categories like yo-yos, inflatable toys, suction cup projectiles, and expanding material toys, reinforcing the applicability of standard technical requirements to the physical safety of toy products.
Added flammability technical requirements for headwear toys such as masks. Improved flame-retardant testing methods for three categories of products: toy disguise costumes, toys intended to be entered by a child (such as toy tents), and soft-filled toys, effectively safeguarding the fire safety of toy products.
Added requirements for internal components of toys with a voltage exceeding 24V; added hygiene and odor requirements for plant seeds and plant materials; added electromagnetic radiation requirements; added requirements for ingredients labeling and warning instructions on toy cosmetics.
Newly added controls for slime, toy cosmetics, crystal slime, and similar toys; newly added control for Boron (B).
Increased from the original 6P to 10P in national standards. These 10P combine the requirements of the original National Standard 6P, eu reach Annex XVII 7P, and US cpsia 8P.
Newly added limits for harmful substances such as formaldehyde, cleavable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable substances, formamide, short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs), Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC), and allergenic fragrances, significantly expanding the coverage of chemical hazardous substances in toy products.
The publication of the 2025 version of the four mandatory national standards under GB 6675.1 to GB 6675.4 Safety of Toys is of great significance. It standardizes safety requirements for domestic toy products while referencing European, American, and ISO international standards, aligning toy product compliance with international practices.
