Update time : 2025-05-30

rcm certification can only be applied for by a local Australian company, which must obtain an RCM number from the Australian government. Chinese manufacturers and exporters can apply for IEC or AS/NZS reports under their own name, but the RCM application must be submitted by the Australian importer. The registration fee is AUD 75 per product per trademark per year.

Product risk classification:

Level 1 (Low Risk):

Products with input voltage of AC 50V–1000V or DC 50V–1500V not only need to provide C-Tick (EMC) reports but also require IEC safety reports or AS/NZS safety reports for registration.

EN standard reports are no longer accepted for RCM-Level 1 registration.

Level 2 (Medium Risk):

Generally refers to AC-poweRED products. emc reports and safety reports are required for RCM certification (i.e., C-Tick + Safety Test Report).

Level 3 (High Risk):

Includes a list of 56 types of products such as power adapters, vacuum cleaners, etc. Depending on the product, EMC report, safety report, and an saa certificate are required for RCM certification / EESS registration.

For all electrical products with voltage in the range of AC 50V–1000V or DC 120V–1500V, many fall into the Level 3 category and require saa certification.
