CPSIA affects all manufacturers, importers, and distributors of toys, clothing, children’s products, and childcare articles intended for the U.S. market. All manufacturers must ensure their products comply with the relevant provisions, restrictions, standards, or regulations outlined by the law.
In terms of phthalates content, the following rules apply:
1. DEHP, DBP, and BBPare permanently banned.
2. DINP, DIDP, and DNOPare temporarily banned until a CHAP report determines their final status.

Lead limits for children’s products are being phased in over three years:
1. Starting February 10, 2009, products designed for children aged 12 and under must not contain more than 600 parts per million (ppm)of lead.
2. Any product exceeding this limit is prohibited in the U.S. Violations can lead to serious civil and criminal penalties.
3. From August 14, 2009, the limit was reduced to 300 ppm.
4. From August 14, 2011, the limit was further reduced to 100 ppm, unless determined technically infeasible by the CPSC.
> The allowable lead (Pb) content is 0.01%. Anything above that is considered non-compliant.
The maximum allowable content for each restricted phthalate is 0.1%. This includes:
