US Market Wireless Products FCC-ID Certification Compliance

Update time : 2026-08-01

Recently, the AliExpress platform issued an important announcement: starting from July 29, 2026, it will comprehensively strengthen the fcc-ID certification control for wireless products on its US site. All radio frequency devices sold to the United States must submit valid fcc id certification qualifications. Products that fail to pass the review will be directly blocked in the US market.

Legal Status of FCC Certification

According to the U.S. Communications Act, all electrical and electronic products entering the US market must comply with fcc standards; otherwise, they will face customs seizure, fines, and even legal action. Wireless products entering the US market without FCC certification are legally considered illegal sales.

FCC certification is divided into fcc id certification and fcc sdoc certification.

FCC ID Certification

This is a mandatory certification system for products with wireless radio frequency emission functions. After the product is tested according to corresponding standards, it is reviewed and evaluated by an FCC-recognized TCB (Telecommunication Certification Body). Once approved, a unique fcc id number is issued. All technical parameters will be entered into the FCC public database and can be verified online.

FCC sdoc Certification

This applies to ordinary electronic products without wireless functions. After the manufacturer conducts testing according to the corresponding standards independently or entrusts a laboratory to do so, they can simply sign a Declaration of Conformity. There is no need to submit it for official FCC review, and there is no unique ID number.

Which Products are within the Scope of FCC Control?

This control covers all radio frequency devices, namely electronic devices that can generate, use, or radiate radio frequency energy. Common categories include:

  • Short-range wireless devices: Bluetooth earphones, Bluetooth speakers, smartwatches, routers, wireless mice/keyboards, etc.

  • Mobile communication terminals: Smartphones, 4G/5G CPE, automotive T-BOX, NB-IoT modules, etc.

  • Remote control and security equipment: Wireless cameras, RFID readers, garage door remotes, wireless video doorbells, etc.

  • Other devices: Drones, walkie-talkies, wireless microphones, baby monitors, wireless chargers with communication functions, etc.

As long as the product features transmission functions such as WiFi, Bluetooth, 2.4G/5.8G wireless, RF remote control, ZigBee, or LoRa, it must apply for an FCC ID.

fcc compliance Qualification Requirements for Products

Merchants must ensure that the products sold meet the following qualification requirements and submit corresponding proof materials according to the platform's guidelines:

1. FCC ID Certificate

Sellers must provide a valid FCC ID certificate issued by an authorized TCB (Telecommunication Certification Body).

2. Real Photos of the Product Label

The product itself or its outer packaging must clearly display the FCC ID logo.

Label format example: FCC ID: [Grantee Code]-[Product Code]

  • Grantee Code: A 5-character alphanumeric code granted by the FCC, composed of numbers and capital letters.

  • Product Code: Defined by the manufacturer, which can be a combination of letters, numbers, or hyphens.

  • Requirement: The images must be clearly legible, and the information must match the certificate exactly.

3. User Manual

The user manual accompanying the product must include compliance declaration information meeting FCC regulations, including the FCC ID, warning statements, and specific cautionary statements.

4. Test Report (For Record)

The platform reserves the right to conduct random spot checks on products on sale at any time. Sellers are advised to prepare a complete test report issued by a qualified laboratory in advance. Although not mandatory to upload currently, it must be provided promptly when the platform initiates a spot check.

How Should Merchants Respond to FCC Compliance?

The new regulations will take effect on July 29, 2026. It is highly recommended that non-compliant products undergo immediate self-inspection.

Products Not Yet Listed

If you are preparing to list new products, please complete the following self-inspection before publishing:

  1. Is the product within the scope of FCC ID control?

  2. Has an FCC ID certificate been obtained?

  3. Is the FCC ID certificate valid?
(You can log in to the official FCC database and enter the FCC ID number to verify.)

Products Already Listed for Sale

If your products are already on sale on the AliExpress US site, you can conduct a self-inspection through the following methods:

  1. Check Seller Dashboard: Log into the AliExpress Seller Center to check if any products have triggered the FCC ID certification qualification requirements.

  2. Verify Certificate Validity: Regardless of whether they are triggered, it is recommended to proactively check the following key information on the FCC ID certificate for all wireless products on sale:

  • Is the FCC ID number on the certificate searchable in the official FCC database, and is the status "Granted"?

  • Is the product model on the certificate completely consistent with the model filled out in the platform Listing?

  • Is the manufacturer/brand name on the certificate consistent with the actual sales information?

Principle of Consistency: The FCC ID number and product model across the FCC ID certificate, the physical product label, and the platform Listing details page must be completely identical. Any discrepancy will directly result in review failure.

How to Apply for FCC ID Certification?

If your product is subject to FCC control but lacks FCC ID certification qualifications, our laboratory can provide the following compliance workflow:

Step 1: Provide product information and confirm testing standards

Provide the product manual, specification sheet, user manual, and other materials. Engineers will evaluate the required testing standards and costs.

Step 2: Confirm costs and provide complete samples

Both parties confirm the testing fees. Merchants must provide complete samples identical to mass production goods (including outer packaging and accessories).

Step 3: Laboratory testing and obtaining the test report

The laboratory arranges the testing. Upon passing, a formal test report is issued.

Step 4: Submit technical data to the TCB and obtain the FCC ID

Compile technical data and submit it to the TCB institution for review. Once approved by the TCB, the FCC ID is issued, and the merchant must keep it on file.

Common Reasons for FCC Review Rejection

  • The FCC ID number in the label photo does not match the number on the certificate.

  • The user manual does not include the FCC compliance declaration, or the declaration content is incomplete.

  • The FCC ID cannot be found in the official FCC database, or the query status shows as "Inactive".

  • The model name registered in the certificate is inconsistent with the model name entered in the platform Listing.

  • The label photo only displays the word "FCC" without containing the complete FCC ID number.
