What is gcc certification?

GCC, or General Certificate of Conformity, is a requirement under the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (cpsia) in the United States. It applies to all general-use products (non-children’s products) and is a written certificate issued by manufacturers and importers, declaring that their products comply with applicable consumer safety rules.

Regulatory Requirements: 16 cfr 1263

Standard Requirements: UL 4200A:2023

UL Test Items: Stress release test, drop test, impact test, compression test, torsion test, tension test, pressure test, and safety test.

Scope of Application for Products Containing Button or Coin Batteries under the UL 4200A Standard:

1. Covers consumer products that contain or may use button or coin batteries.

2. Excludes products that exclusively use zinc-air battery technology.

3. Excludes toy products that comply with the ASTM F963 Toy Safety Standard.

4. Applies to consumer products containing button or coin batteries that are not intended for use in areas where children may be present, such as professional or commercial environments where children are not typically found.

UL 4200A labeling Requirements:

Warning Label (Product Body):

1. If space allows on the product body, use the following label (Figure 7C.1):

b. If the main packaging space is insufficient, use Figure 7B.3 on the main space and Figure 7B.4 on the secondary space. Note that using only one of these is not sufficient.

Points to Note for Warning Labels:

1. When the label has multiple colors, ensure the colors match those specified for the warning labels.

2. The icon size should be at least 7mm wide and 9mm high, and the icon in Figure 7B.2 should have a diameter of at least 8mm.

3. The marking must be in the official language of the country where the product is sold. If there is no official language, use English.
