What Is an Amazon Japan Agent?

Starting December 25, 2025, Japan will officially enforce the “Domestic Agent” (Japan Agent, or “Nichidai”) system.

Consequences of Non-Compliance

This legal amendment carries mandatory legal force—it is not merely a registration procedure. Violations will lead to serious consequences, including:

1. Hefty fines— up to tens of millions of yen;

2. Criminal liability— responsible corporate officers may face imprisonment;
