What is Saudi IECEE Certification?

IECEE is a certification requiRED by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) for the local Saudi Arabian market to confirm that products comply with international safety standards. This certification is based on cb reports and cb certificates issued by CB laboratories and authorized CB bodies.

When entering the Saudi market, products must have Saber certification, and for certain products, IECEE certification is required before obtaining Saber certification. Therefore, IECEE certification is essential for these products.

Which products require IECEE certification?  

1. Mobile phones and accessories (including chargers, Bluetooth earphones, etc.)  

2. Desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and accessories (including adapters, etc.)  

3. Power banks, mobile phone batteries, and plugs  

4. Lighting fixtures and accessories (whether energy efficiency is required or not)  

5. Solar photovoltaic modULes  

6. Dishwashers  

7. Electric pumps (including household water pumps and electric pumps with power ≤5HP)  

8. Televisions, monitors  

9. Smartwatches, smart bracelets  

10. E-cigarettes  

11. Cables  

12. Electric kettles  

13. Coffee machines  

14. Electric frying pans  

15. Video games and accessories  

IECEE Application Process  

Step 1: Submit technical documents and a declaration of conformity to the certification body for IECEE application.  

Step 2: Once the certification body approves, the application is forwarded to SASO for processing. Upon SASO's approval, the iecee certificate is issued.

Documents Required for Saudi IECEE Certification  

Technical documents, which mainly include the CB report, CB certificate, explanatory documents (e.g., user manual, which must be in Arabic or both Arabic and English), product photos (including labels, color boxes, and outer box photos), and other necessary documents (e.g., energy efficiency certificates and labels, or certificates for SIM cards issued by the Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC)). Additionally, business licenses of both the manufacturer and the importer are required.  

The declaration of conformity mainly includes the importer's declaration, manufacturer's declaration, plug or no-plug declaration, and others such as battery declarations or variation declarations.

Saudi IECEE Certification Lead Time  

IECEE application lead time: 10-20 working days (2-4 weeks) after submission.  

The lead time depends on the efficiency of SASO's approval process and the quality of the submitted documents.
