Amazon recently introduced a significant new regULation on its US site: product compliance in certain categories must be verified through direct validation by Amazon-approved testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) organizations (hereinafter referRED to as "TIC"). This means that for categories subject to TIC direct validation, the traditional model of self-uploading compliance reports will no longer be applicable, and sellers will need to promptly adjust their compliance processes. This article will provide a detailed explanation of the key policy points and the latest operational guidance.
To ensure product safety and compliance, Amazon has introduced a "direct verification" mechanism:
1. Products in designated categories must undergo compliance testing/certification directly through an Amazon-approved TIC organization, or provide existing test reports, compliance materials, and products according to TIC requirements for verification.
2. Test and verification results are submitted directly to Amazon by the TIC organization.
3. Sellers cannot upload compliance documents on their own.
● Applicable sites: Currently mainly implemented in the US site, and will be expanded to new sites in the future. Please continue to pay attention to the relevant help page
● Affected categories: Electric transportation equipment, dietary supplements, ophthalMIC drugs, skin whitening products, other specific categories (may be expanded in the future)
Impact on Sellers
● If the test results confirm that your product complies with Amazon's policies: Your product will be eligible for sale on Amazon's US site and no further action is required.
● If you fail to initiate or complete testing or verification, or if the test results indicate that your product does not comply with Amazon's policies: The product listing may be removed.
Note: This compliance process mainly affects products currently on sale. For specific grace periods, please refer to the expiration date on the Manage Your Compliance page.
➤ For products currently on sale:
• Sellers submit testing requests on the “Manage Your Compliance (MYC)” page
• After receiving the request, the designated TIC agency will contact the seller to arrange testing or verification of their existing reports and products
• After the testing/verification is completed, the TIC will submit the results directly to Amazon, and sellers cannot upload files on their own
• All testing/verification costs are borne by the seller
➤ For products that have not yet been sold:
Sellers can use the help page or the compliance reference tool to find out whether their products need to complete compliance through the designated TIC agency.
How to apply for TIC direct verification? Only 7 steps
? Step 1: Open the "Manage Your Compliance (MYC)" page and find "Open Requests"
? Step 2: Click "Add or Appeal Compliance" > "Request Lab Services"
? Step 3: Check the ASIN that needs to be tested and select a TIC agency
? Step 4: Select the laboratory address to send the sample
? Step 5: Contact TIC, confirm the quote, and send samples (you can also show them the test report if you already have one)
? Step 6: Wait for the test to complete and the results will be automatically uploaded to Amazon
? Step 7: Check compliance status
• Passed: can be sold normally
• Failed/Incomplete: may be removed from the shelves
• Objection appeal: If you disagree with the testing requirements, you can appeal and explain the reasons
Please note: Once you have selected a laboratory, you can work directly with them to ship samples and coordinate logistics. Once you have selected a TIC of interest, you can request a quote and ship samples.
If this TIC does not meet your expectations, you can cancel the currently selected TIC and negotiate cooperation with other TICs.
If you already have a test report, please review the FAQ section for answers to related questions. In addition, all costs incurred due to testing or verification will be borne by you.
Amazon launched the Direct Verification Program for two primary purposes.
First, it helps sellers connect directly with approved, reliable third-party service providers. These service providers can directly verify documents and products and relay compliance results to Amazon.
Second, it streamlines the document verification process, improves document review efficiency, and ensures compliance at the source. This ultimately benefits Amazon sellers, as these laboratories will directly verify and test products and share the results with Amazon.
When you choose a laboratory to work with, their services meet Amazon standards.
Reports issued by ISO17025 laboratories that meet policy requirements and have relevant testing capabilities and qualifications are still valid. However, reports with false content or incomplete testing may still be rejected.
It depends on whether "Direct Verification" is enabled for your product category. If it is enabled, you can inform TIC that you already have a test report after selecting it, and then submit the existing test report to TIC for evaluation to confirm that you need relevant testing and review.
After you select TIC, TIC will promptly provide you with a processing timeline and quote. If you are not satisfied with the quote, you can contact other TICs for further quotations.
Direct Validation reviews the safety and compliance of your entire product, including but not limited to your test report. All costs associated with testing or validation are your responsibility.
To learn which products are eligible for Direct Validation, please visit the product help pages for each product. These pages will clearly indicate whether a product requires Direct Validation and provide the necessary steps.
You can also see a reminder on the Manage Your Compliance page and click the button to apply if you require Direct Validation.
Yes. More international and domestic TIC organizations will join in the future, so stay tuned.
Select the Add or File a Compliance Appeal option:
1. When selecting the reason for your appeal, select "This requirement does not apply to my product."
2. In the Additional Comments section, include in your description why you believe your product was misidentified or why you believe this requirement does not apply to your situation, and click Submit. Amazon will review your appeal and contact you by email to confirm whether further information is needed. If your appeal is approved, the ASIN will be reinstated without testing.
