Household electrical equipmentrefers to electrical goods intended for home use and typically poweRED by the mains electricity supply.

 

This policy applies to Level 2 and Level 3 household electrical equipment, declared articles, or products requiring mandatory certificationas defined under the Electrical Equipment Safety Scheme (EESS).

The EESS classifies electrical equipment into three levels and sets out corresponding compliance and supplier registration requirements. Depending on its classification, a product may need to be registered under the scheme.

 

Prohibited Products (Amazon Policy)

Amazon strictly prohibits the listing or sale of non-compliant or banned products.

This includes, but is not limited to:

Mini heaters that plug directly into a power socket (i.e., without a power cord).

 

Compliance Requirements

All other household electrical equipment must be tested and must comply with the following regULations, standards, and requirements:

 

1. The product must be listed in the Electrical Equipment Safety Scheme (EESS)registration database.

2. The product must comply with the rcm mark Style Guide, in accordance with as/nzs 4417.1and AS/NZS 4417.2.

 

Information Required on the Product Detail Page

- Model number, part number, or item number

- Manufacturer or brand name

- The age grading shown on the product detail page must match the age grading stated in the test report

 

Documentation You Must Submit

Required Documents:

- Certificate of Conformity for the household electrical equipment, issued by one of the Recognised External Certification Schemes (RECS)approved under the EESS

- Supplier number of the responsible supplier registered in the EESS registration database

- Equipment number of the household electrical equipment (or product family) registered in the EESS registration database

 

Required Images:

- Product or packaging showing the RCM mark

- Model number, part number, or item number clearly visible

- Product images must matchthe item shown on the product detail page
