Display RoHS Testing

Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) is a type of flat-panel display, commonly used in televisions and computers. This kind of display has advantages such as low power consumption, compact size, and low radiation. For export to EU countries, CE certification is required, and ROHS certification is one of the directives under the ce mark. Let's learn how to apply for display ROHS Testing!

What is rohs testing?

On January 27, 2003, the European Union issued the "Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment," commonly known as the RoHS Directive. This directive has had a major global impact and sparked a green revolution in the electronics industry. After a three-year revision process, on July 1, 2011, the EU officially published Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS 2.0) in its Official Journal, replacing Directive 2002/95/EC.

The RoHS directive restricts the use of the following hazardous substances in the manufacturing of certain electrical and electronic equipment sold within the EU:

- Lead (Pb)

- Mercury (Hg)

- Cadmium (Cd)

- Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+)

- Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB)

- Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE)

RoHS 2.0 adds four additional restricted substances:

- DEHP

- BBP

- DBP

- DIBP

(All with a maximum concentration value of 0.1%.)

Key implementation timelines:

1. EU Member States were required to adopt and publish the necessary laws, regulations, and administrative provisions by December 31, 2016.

2. The directive came into effect starting July 22, 2019.

3. Restrictions on DEHP, BBP, DBP, and DIBP in medical devices (including in vitro diagnostic devices), and monitoring and control instruments (including industrial monitoring and control instruments) began on July 22, 2021.

4. Restrictions on DEHP, BBP, DBP, and DIBP do not apply to cables or spare parts for the repair, reuse, updating of functionalities, or upgrading of capacity of EEE (Electrical and Electronic Equipment) placed on the market before July 22, 2019. The same applies to medical devices and monitoring/control instruments placed on the market before July 22, 2021.

How much does rohs certification cost?

To provide an accurate RoHS testing price, product images and a Bill of Materials (BOM) are needed. Based on previous cases, RoHS testing starts at USD $450. The final cost depends on the complexity of the product. Feel free to contact the display rohs testing team for consultation!
