ANATEL was established in 1997. It is mainly responsible for approving that telecommunication products meet quality and safety standards as well as standardized technical functions. Almost all telephone products that transmit radio frequencies, connect to the public telephone network, or use lithium batteries must obtain approval from this institution. This certification and approval process ensures that consumers' continued use of these products complies with all relevant quality and safety regULations.
Category I: Terminal products, including mobile phones, satellite phones, VOIP phones, mobile phone batteries, mobile phone chargers, telephone signal cables, and modems.
Category II: Products using radio frequency (RF), including TV and radio antennas, receivers, transmitters, wireless network equipment, and RF automation equipment.
Category III: Optical cables, cable connectors, and mobile network signal transmitters.
1. Submit the application to the ANATEL certification-issuing authority.
2. Mail 1 conduction frequency-calibrated sample and 1 normal sample to JJR for pre-testing.
3. After JJR's pre-testing is passed, mail the samples to the designated laboratory of ANATEL in Brazil for official testing.
4. The CoC certification-issuing authority designated by Brazil ANATEL issues the CoC certificate based on the test report.
5. The official ANATEL authority in Brazil issues the original ANATEL certificate based on the CoC certificate and other technical documents.
6. After the ANATEL certificate is issued, renew the certificate before its expiration date.
① Certificates for Category I and Category II are valid for 2 years.
② Certificates for Category III are valid for 3 years.
① The certificate holder must be a local company in Brazil.
② ANATEL certification allows multiple models to be included, provided that these models have the same wireless modules and internal structures.
③ If two models (Model A and Model B) have identical wireless modules but different internal structures, only Model A needs to be tested. There is no need to mail the frequency-calibrated sample for Model B. However, Model A and Model B need to apply for separate ANATEL certificates respectively.
