The Innovation, Science and EconoMIC Development Canada (ised) has updated and issued the RSS-247 Issue 3 standard, which replaces the RSS-247 Issue 2 standard. A transition period of 6 months from the date of Issue 3 publication is provided, during which both Issue 2 and Issue 3 can be used (from August 3, 2023 to February 2, 2024). After this period, only certification applications compliant with Issue 3 will be accepted.
1. Chapter 2.1 has been added, containing information on the effective date of the new standard and the transition period.
2. Chapter 6.2 has been revised to clarify that different measurement methods may be adopted based on the operating frequency range of the equipment.
3. Chapter 6.2.5 has been added, specifying requirements for equipment operating in the 5850-5895 MHz frequency band (including equipment covering this band, such as those operating in 5725-5895 MHz).
4. Chapter [6.2.5.1](6.2.5.1) has been added, providing general information and definitions for the 5850-5895 MHz frequency band.
5. Chapter [6.2.5.2](6.2.5.2) has been added, specifying the power limits for equipment operating in the 5850-5895 MHz frequency band.
6. Chapter [6.2.5.3](6.2.5.3) has been added, specifying the spurious emission limits for equipment operating in the 5850-5895 MHz frequency band.
1. Complete the application form, confirm the testing items, and obtain a quotation.
2. The applicant confirms and countersigns the quotation.
3. Submit samples for testing and pay the testing fees.
4. Conduct product rectification (if the product fails the inspection).
5. Issue the test report upon successfUL completion of the test.
For ic id certification, the following additional step is requiRED:
6. Submit the test report and relevant documents to the FCB/TCB organization for review and certification issuance.
1. Product-related documents (schematics, block diagrams, circuit description, user manual, technical specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOM) for key components).
2. RF prototype samples.
3. Software and hardware version numbers, product serial numbers, and fixed-frequency software version numbers.
4. Product labels (labels shall be prepared for each model, containing the manufacturer's name or trademark, model name, and ised id number. The label must be placed in a prominent position).
5. Test report.
6. Internal and external photos of the product.
7. Application form.
8. Information such as the address of the Canadian representative and the letter of authorization.
