Update time : 2025-08-20

On August 1, 2025, the Standardization Administration of China officially released the mandatory national standard GB 26572-2025: Requirements for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products, which will come into effect on August 1, 2027. This standard will fully replacethe recommended standard GB/T 26572-2011. It is the first mandatory national standard in the field of China's RoHS regulation, marking not only a technical upgrade but also a systematic push for green transformation in the electronics and electrical industry.

Key Highlights:

1. Comprehensive Technical Upgrade

a. New Labeling Requirements: Integration of relevant content from SJ/T 11364 into the mandatory standard.

b. Refined Classification Management:

① Category I productsmust meet both restriction limits and labeling requirements.

② Category II productsare only required to meet labeling requirements (but encouraged to meet restriction limits as well).

c. Improved Definitions: Terms like "hazardous substances" and "compliance management catalog" have been clarified to enhance operability.

2. Optimized Testing & Labeling System

① Unified Testing Methods: Aligned with the GB/T 39560 series (equivalent to IEC 62321), ensuring global comparability of test results.

② Innovative Labeling Methods: Supports digital solutions such as QR codes and electronic displays, reducing compliance costs for enterprises.

3. Transition Period

Products manufactured before August 1, 2027, must comply with the new standard by no later than August 1, 2028.

Reminder from JJR LAB

The release of GB 26572-2025 signals a new era of mandatory environmental controlfor China’s electrical and electronic products. Enterprises must complete supply chain adjustments, testing certifications, and labeling system upgrades before full compliance is required in August 2027.

We recommend making full use of the transition period to:

① Conduct material screening

② Monitor standard updates

③ Prepare early for regulatory compliance
