To sell humidifiers on Amazon / TEMU US Marketplace, providing a test report compliant with UL 60335 is critical to proving the product’s electrical safety and passing platform reviews smoothly.
Understanding the platform’s review logic and making compliance preparations in advance is the most effective strategy to avoid listing rejection and removal risks.

UL 60335 is not a "certification". It refers to a test report issued based on the specific safety standard UL 60335-2-98: Household and similar electrical appliances — Safety — Part 2-98: Particular requirements for humidifiers.
This standard falls under American National Standards (ANSI) and is recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Platforms (especially Amazon) require this report to fulfill their "market surveillance" responsibility, ensure listed products meet basic electrical safety regulatory requirements for the US market, and REDuce their own joint liability risks. The lack of an approved ul test report is one of the most common reasons for product delisting.
The core of avoiding rejection lies in ensuring the validity, completeness and relevance of the report.
You must choose a third-party laboratory JJR LAB with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, and its scope of accreditation must explicitly include the UL 60335-2-98 standard. This is fundamental to the validity of the report.
Risk point: Many domestic CNAS reports are not directly accepted by the platform, as their accreditation scope does not cover American National Standards. Before placing a test order, be sure to obtain the laboratory’s ILAC-MRA accredited qualification documents and verify the standard scope.
• One report per model principle: One report shall clearly correspond to one specific product model. Product photos, electrical specifications and structural diagrams in the report must be fully consistent with the product you list for sale.
• Model extension coverage: If multiple models differ only in appearance and color, with identical circuits, core components and parameters, you may apply to list "series models" under one main model report. However, you must confirm the process with the laboratory before testing and have it clearly reflected in the report.
A report accepted by platform reviews normally must include the following core information:
1. Clear Applicant / Manufacturer information: Reasonably linked to store or brand information.
2. Detailed product description and labeling: Model, electrical parameters, technical specifications.
3. Key test items and results: Such as input test, temperature rise test, abnormal operation test, leakage current, electric strength, mechanical hazards, structural inspection, etc. Among them, waterproofing and insulation testing involving water-electricity contact are top priorities for humidifiers.
4. Product photos and nameplate image: Clearly showing internal and external structures and safety markings.
5. Clear conclusion page: Explicitly stating "complies with the requirements of UL 60335-2-98" or similar statements.
6. Laboratory’s accreditation logo, signature and seal.
The report does not cover UL 60335-2-98, or is only issued based on GB (Chinese National Standard).
Solution: Immediately contact a laboratory with the aforementioned qualifications and retest according to the correct standard.
Product model and photos in the report are inconsistent with the listing information filled in the seller backend.
Solution: Carefully check the product name, model and photos before uploading the report. If the product has been modified, update the report simultaneously or provide a "variation statement" for the old report.
The report is incomplete, missing key test items, photos or conclusion page.
Solution: Request the laboratory to issue a complete supplementary report. Self-edited or spliced reports will most likely be detected and rejected.
Laboratory accreditation is not recognized.
Solution: When submitting the test report, attach the laboratory’s ISO/IEC 17025 qualification documents simultaneously, and highlight the accredited standard scope (UL 60335-2-98) to assist the review.
1. Testing first: Complete testing and obtain a compliant report before product finalization and mass production.
2. Document archiving: Properly keep complete test reports and laboratory qualification documents.
3. Accurate completion: Accurately upload the report and fill in relevant information in the compliance information section of the platform backend.
4. Continuous management: If any safety-impacting changes occur to the product (e.g., replacement of heating elements, water pumps, circuit design), re-evaluation or even supplementary testing is required.
The key to avoiding listing rejection starts from the source — selecting a compliant laboratory, testing the final salable product version according to the correct standard, and obtaining a complete and corresponding report.
Treat this as a necessary cost and step for product launch to ensure safe and stable listing.
