Laser projection display technology brings visual enjoyment with high brightness, wide color gamut, etc. However, it is important not to overlook the potential health risks posed by lasers due to their narrow wavelength and concentrated energy, which can harm the eyes and skin. To address this, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) updated and established the laser safety standard IEC60825 Edition 3.0 (Safety of Laser Products - Part 1: Equipment Classification and Requirements), which was officially released in May 2014.

Laser IEC/EN 60825 is a testing standard and is the EU's testing standard for laser classification.
The definition of IEC/EN60825-1 standard is as follows:
1. For the corresponding wavelength and emission time, laser products close to the laser radiation shoULd not exceed the Class 1 accessible emission limit (see 8.2 and 8.4e).
2. Class 1M laser products have a wavelength range from 302.5 nm to 4000 nm. For the corresponding wavelength and emission duration (see 8.4e), personnel close to the laser radiation should not REACH the Class 1 emission limit. The radiation level is measuRED according to 9.2g, but it is less than the Class 1 laser product with a smaller aperture or further from the apparent light source.
The IEC standard is the International Electrotechnical Commission, a global standardization organization composed of national electrotechnical committees from various countries, aimed at promoting standardization in the field of electrical and electronic technologies worldwide.
1. If the light intensity is very low, such as commonly used LEDs for display or signaling, most of them meet the requirements of IEC/EN60825-1 Class 1, so no testing is necessary. During judgment, remove covers, optics, and similar components by hand. The report should state that the light intensity meets the requirements of Class 1 lasers in the IEC/EN60825-1 standard, and testing is conducted.
2. In other cases, the lighting equipment manufacturer should provide a declaration based on relevant tests (such as LED manufacturers) to indicate that the LED module's radiation does not exceed the Class 1 limits or Class 1M limits without optical devices in the IEC/EN60825-1 standard. The report should indicate that the judgment is based on the manufacturer's declaration.
3. If we cannot provide a declaration or determine how to judge, we should conduct testing according to the IEC/EN60825-1 standard. The report should indicate that the measurement has been performed, especially for lighting equipment with two types of laser sources.
