The fULl name of the CPC certificate is Children’s Product Certificate, which applies to children’s products for those under 12 years old, such as toys, cradles, baby carriers, children’s clothing, etc. If the product is manufactuRED locally in the United States, the manufacturer is responsible for providing the certificate; if produced in other countries, the importer shall issue the certificate.
A CPC is essentially a self-declaration document that includes product information, as well as the tested product safety standards and items.
Amazon US requires all children’s toys and children’s products to provide a Children’s Product Certificate (CPC). When listing child-related product categories on Amazon US (including toys, baby products, etc.), sellers must submit a cpc certificate; otherwise, the products will not be allowed for sale.
Despite being called a "certificate", the CPC Certification is not issued by any official authority nor filed with relevant government departments. In fact, it is a "guarantee letter" drafted and fully responsible for by the manufacturer/importer,
stating that the product complies with all applicable U.S. local children’s product safety regulations and other laws and regulations.
Amazon requires merchants to upload a CPC certificate when listing certain product categories (e.g., children’s toys, baby products). Relevant children’s products without a CPC certificate are prohibited from being sold online.
Currently, children’s toys and mother-and-baby products exported to the United States all require a CPC certification certificate and a cpsia report for customs clearance.
Overseas e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, eBay, and AliExpress have also successively required CPC children’s product safety certificates for Chinese-manufactured children’s toys and mother-and-baby products.
