Australia LoRa Band 915-928 MHz RCM Compliance

Views :
Update time : 2026-01-28

In New Zealand and Australia, the frequency bands used for LoRaWAN are unified, and both countries comply with the same regULatory standard (AS/NZS 4268). The specific frequency bands and rules are as follows:

LoRa Frequency Bands in New Zealand and Australia

(1) Main frequency band range: 915-928 MHz

(2) Actual deployment range: 923-928 MHz (with slight differences in sub-band division)

(3) Channel allocation:

① Uplink (Device → Gateway): 923.3-928.3 MHz

② Downlink (Gateway → Device): 923.3-924.1 MHz

(4) Specific channels: Generally divided into 64 sub-channels (e.g., AU915 configuration), and channel allocation may be adjusted by different operators.

Test Standards for Australian LoRa Product Certification

① AS/NZS 4268 for LoRa 915-928 MHz

② as/nzs cispr 32 for EMC

③ AS/NZS 62368 for safety

④ AS/NZS 2772.2 for health

Key Rules

(1) Transmit power limit:

Maximum Effective Radiated Power (ERP) ≤ 1W (30 dBm), with dynaMIC adjustment permitted in some scenarios.

(2) Duty cycle limit:

Generally ≤ 1% (i.e., transmission time shall not exceed 36 seconds per hour) to avoid frequency band congestion.

(3) Standard basis:

Both countries jointly adopt AS/NZS 4268 to ensure the compatibility of radio equipment and low-interference operation.

Differences and Considerations

(1) Network operator configuration:

LoRaWAN networks in Australia (such as TTN, The Things Network) use the AU915 frequency band configuration by default, while New Zealand may adopt the same configuration or a locally optimized version.

(2) DeviCE certification:

rcm certification (the joint compliance mark for Australia and New Zealand) is requiRED to ensure compliance with the radio regulations of both countries.

(3) Geographic restrictions:

Additional spectrum restrictions may apply in certain remote areas of Australia (such as mining areas), and confirmation with local regulatory authorities is required in advance.
