Charging Pile EU CE Certification

Views :
Update time : 2024-11-25

With the significant increase in electric vehicle exports to EU countries, opportunities have arisen for China's charging piles to enter the EU market. EU member states have set higher requirements for safety, environmental protection, performance, and charging efficiency for charging piles. Before entering the EU market, charging piles must comply with the mandatory CE certification requirements.

Test Standards

AC charging piles (slow charging) are subject to several standards, including EN 61851-1:2019 for general requirements, IEC 61851-21-2:2021 for EMC requirements of off-board charging systems, and EN 61851-22:2002 for AC electric vehicle charging stations.

DC charging stations (fast charging) must meet EN 61851-1:2019 for general requirements, IEC 61851-21-2:2021 for EMC requirements, EN 61851-23:2014 + AC:2016 for DC charging station standards, and EN 61851-24:2014 for digital communication standards for controlling DC charging.

Test Standards and Items

For EN 61851-1:2019, tests include insULation resistance, touch current, dielectric withstand, mechanical strength, and humidity functionality.

IEC 61851-21-2:2021 covers CPT port testing, DC charging equipment voltage surge, and transient immunity tests.

EN 61851-22:2002 involves tests for indirect contact prevention, dielectric impulse withstand, low-temperature, and low-frequency conducted interference.

EN 61851-23:2014 + AC:2016 evaluates coupler locking, charger and vehicle compatibility, and short-circuit testing.

EN 61851-24:2014 focuses on digital communication testing for controlling DC charging systems A, B, and C.

Certification Process

1. Submit a CE certification application.

2. Prepare test samples and establish technical documentation.

3. Conduct sample testing.

4. Pass tests and obtain test reports and certificates.

5. Manufacturer issues a Declaration of Conformity.

6. Affix the CE certification mark to the product.

7. Product circulates in the EU market.
