In the EU market, CE certification is a "pass" for household electrical products such as electric frying pans. Products without the CE mark not only face the risk of customs seizure and removal from e-commerce platforms but may also trigger legal proceedings due to safety issues. As a common appliance in home kitchens, electric frying pans have become an important export product for many enterprises to the EU. However, CE certification is an indispensable threshold for selling electric frying pans in the EU market.

Core Directives Applicable to Electric Frying Pan CE Certification

To obtain CE certification for electric frying pans, compliance with the following EU directives and standards is requiRED:

(1) low voltage directive (LVD) 2014/35/EU

Applies to electrical equipment with a rated voltage of 50-1000V AC or 75-1500V DC. As a household appliance, electric frying pans clearly fall within the scope of this directive.

(2) Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC) 2014/30/EU

Ensures that electrical equipment does not generate electromagnetic interference or is affected by electromagnetic interference.

(3) RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU

Restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

(4) RegULation (EC) No 1935/2004 on Materials and Articles Intended to Come into Contact with Food

Ensures that cookware materials are non-toxic and do not migrate hazardous substances to food.

Key Test Items for Electric Frying Pan CE Certification

Electrical Safety Testing

Including input power deviation, ground resistance, dielectric strength, leakage current, temperature rise limits, etc.

Mechanical Safety Testing

Structural stability, static load of handles, power cord pull test.

Thermal Safety Testing

Abnormal operation protection (such as simulated dry heating test for overheating power-off function), thermostat accuracy.

Material Safety Testing

Heavy metal migration (lead, cadmium, etc.) in food contact materials, perfluorinated compounds (PFOA/PFOS) screening.

Performance testing

Heating uniformity, non-stick grade, thermal efficiency, wear resistance, saltwater corrosion resistance, etc.

emc testing

Conducted emissions, radiated emissions, electrostatic discharge immunity, etc.

Specific Standards for Electric Frying Pan CE Certification

Electric frying pan CE certification mainly involves the following standards:

① EN 60335-1 (Safety of household and similar electrical appliances - General requirements)

② EN 60335-2-13 (Safety of household and similar electrical appliances - Particular requirements for frying pans, deep fat fryers and similar appliances)

③ EN 55014-1 (Electromagnetic compatibility - Requirements for household appliances, electric tools and similar apparatus - Emission)

④ EN 55014-2 (Electromagnetic compatibility - Requirements for household appliances, electric tools and similar apparatus - Immunity)

⑤ en 61000-3-2 (Limits for harmonic current emissions)

⑥ EN 61000-3-3 (Limits for voltage fluctuations and flicker)

Application Process for Electric Frying Pan CE Certification

Step 1: Confirm the Certification Laboratory and Fill in the Application Form

Select an EU-recognized laboratory (JJR LAB), fill in the application form, and provide basic information about the product and the company.

Step 2: Prepare Samples and Documents

Prepare electric frying pan samples (usually 2-3 test samples), and provide product model difference list, product manual or user guide, list of key components, etc.

Step 3: Sample Testing and Evaluation

Submit the electric frying pan samples to the certification body for testing. The laboratory conducts tests in accordance with relevant standards; rectification is required promptly if the test fails.

Step 4: Test Pass and Issue Report

After the test is passed, the certification body will issue a test report and certificate.

Step 5: Prepare Technical Documentation

Technical documentation is the core of CE certification, which should include: product description, design drawings, circuit diagrams, bill of parts, test reports, user manuals, etc.

Step 6: Sign the Declaration of Conformity (DoC)

The manufacturer signs the Declaration of Conformity, stating that the product complies with all applicable directives.

Step 7: Affix the CE Mark

The CE mark must be clear, legible, indelible, with a height of ≥5mm, and placed on the product itself, nameplate or packaging.
