emc testing, also known as Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), refers to the comprehensive evaluation of an electronic product's electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS). It is one of the most important quality indicators for a product. EMC measurements are made using specific test facilities and instruments.

To standardize the electromagnetic compatibility of electronic products, all developed countries and some developing countries have established EMC standards. These standards define the basic requirements for a product to operate correctly in real electromagnetic environments. However, meeting EMC standards doesn't guarantee that interference problems will not occur in actual usage. Most national standards are based on those set by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
