A non-full-size baby cribis a crib designed to provide sleeping accommodations for an infant, whether at home, during travel, in nurseries, family childcare, public places impacting commerce, or for other uses. It differs in size from a standard full-size crib, specifically:
1. Interior length: greater than 139.7 cm (55 inches) or less than 126.3 cm (49 3/4 inches), or
2. Interior width: greater than 77.7 cm (30 5/8 inches) or less than 64.3 cm (25 3/8 inches), or both.
1. Cribs designed to fold or collapse without disassembly, making them smaller when stored.
2. Cribs with rigid sides that can be converted into a play yard.
3. Cribs of non-standard shapes (e.g., round, hexagonal) requiring special mattresses or unique components.
Note: This category excludes mesh/fabric/screen-sided cribs, non-rigid cribs, bassinets, car beds, cradles, and other similar products. These may be subject to other CPSC standards.
The primary goal of this standard is to prevent deaths and injuries resulting from falls, entrapments, or contact with crib components—both inside and out.

Safety & Structural Requirements for Non-Full-Size Cribs
1. Mattress Support Impact Test: Assesses strength under dynamic use to prevent collapse.
2. Side Rails & Slats Strength Test: Ensures structural integrity during use.
3. Warning Label Requirements: Must highlight risks such as falls, suffocation from soft bedding, and strangulation from cords.
4. Mattress Support Openings: Must not leave large gaps that could entrap a child.
5. Fastener Requirements: Wood screws cannot be primary fasteners; all hardware must be secure and reliable.
6. Repetitive Use Durability Test: Ensures no loosening of hardware or structural failure over time.
7. Misassembly Prevention Design: Critical components must not be installable incorrectly or must clearly indicate errors.
8. Accessory Evaluation: Safety of any current or future attachments (e.g., bassinets, changing tables) must be assessed.
9. Spacing & Interior Dimensions: Prevent entrapment between slats or components.
1. Cribs must be sold with a dedicated mattress.
2. Mattress height clearance(uncompressed):
a. Minimum 20 inchesbetween mattress top and top of crib sides/ends when support is at its lowest.
b. Minimum 3 inchesclearance when support is at its highest.
3. Mattress fit:
a. Maximum gap ≤ 1/2 inchat any point.
b. When mattress is pushed to one side, the opposite gap must be ≤ 1 inch.
a. Lead in surface coatings: ≤ 90 ppm (0.009%)
b. Total lead in accessible parts: ≤ 100 ppm (0.01%)
c. Phthalates restrictions:
1. DEHP, DBP, BBP: ≤ 0.1%
2. DINP, DIDP, DNOP: Also ≤ 0.1%during active bans
Each crib must include:
A postage-paid consumer registration card
1. Manufacturer must retain registration info
2. Product must be permanently labeled with:
a. Manufacturer name and contact info
b. Model name and number
c. Date of manufacture
Permanent and legible labels on the product and packaging must include:
a. Manufacturer or private labeler name
b. Place and date of manufacture
c. Batch or serial number
Product must be tested by a CPSC-accredited third-party labto confirm compliance.
Manufacturer or importer must issue a Children’s Product Certificate (CPC)stating compliance with all applicable regulations.
Includes:
a. Top rail shear/pinch tests
b. Bassinet/carrier accessory evaluations
c. Fabric/mesh product durability and strength testing
d. Mattress vertical displacement
e. Rail-to-post connection strength
f. Mesh hole size and attachment tests
Similar to full-size cribs:
a. Surface coating lead: ≤ 90 ppm
b. Total lead in accessible parts: ≤ 100 ppm
c. Phthalates: ≤ 0.1% for restricted types
Updated warning labels:
1. All accessories now require hazard warnings
2. Specific language on "strangulation hazard"
3. Standardized label formats introduced
1. Select a CPSC-accredited third-party lab.
2. Submit crib samplefor full testing to applicable standards.
3. Receive test reportfrom the lab.
4. Draft a Children’s Product Certificate (CPC)based on the report.
5. Submit CPC and report to Amazonor relevant marketplace for listing approval.
