(Based on the Latest July 2026 Amazon US Marketplace Mandatory TIC Audit Policy for Lithium Battery Small Home Appliances)
UL507 is the safety standard for electric fans (under 600V), covering:
Plug-in fans (desk fans / pedestal fans / wall fans)
Portable lithium battery fans, neck fans, USB fans
Garage / camping / patio fans
Note: Amazon only accepts the UL507 test report (from an ISO17025 accredited laboratory). They do not require a UL certificate (no factory audit is needed).
1) Electrical Safety (Prevention of Electric Shock / Fire)
Dielectric Withstand: 1200V/1min or 1500V/1min (no breakdown)
Leakage Current: ≤0.5mA (Class I) / ≤0.75mA (Class II)
Insulation Resistance: ≥2MΩ
Grounding Continuity: Within 0.1Ω (if grounded)
2) Mechanical Safety (Prevention of Cuts / Pinching)
Guard Mesh Probe Test (Highest failure rate): Using a standard 5mm probe, it must not touch any rotating parts (fan blades / oscillating mechanism).
Guard Mesh Strength: No deformation under a 45N (≈4.5kg) push force; no breakage under 89N (≈9kg).
Stability: Must not tip over when tilted at a 15° angle.
3) Thermal Safety & Durability (High-Risk Area for Fires)
Temperature Rise: Motor housing ≤85°C; handle/enclosure ≤50°C.
Locked Rotor Test (Mandatory): If fan blades are jammed for 30 minutes, the protection mechanism must activate. Temperature must remain ≤150°C with no fire or smoke.
Flame Retardance: Plastics surrounding the motor must meet ul94 V-0.
4) Additional Mandatory Tests for Lithium Battery Fans (Enhanced in the 2024 Version of UL507)
Charging Circuit: Over-voltage / over-current / short-circuit protection.
Battery Pack: ul2054 / UL62133-2.
Cell: ul1642.
June 30, 2026: New regulations take effect. Sellers can no longer upload reports themselves.
August 30, 2026: Failure to complete TIC verification → Mandatory ASIN removal + FBA inventory frozen.
You must meet all 3 conditions simultaneously:
US Marketplace / Canada Marketplace
Household fans (including portable / neck fans)
Built-in / matching rechargeable lithium batteries (Li-ion/Li-Po)
✅ Pure plug-in fans: Still require UL507, but TIC-DV is temporarily not mandatory (may become stricter in the future).
❌ Dry cell / Ni-MH batteries: TIC is not required.
Amazon has designated a whitelist of TIC organizations (such as SGS, UL, Intertek, BV, etc.). The organization will upload the documents directly to Amazon throughout the process; sellers cannot intervene.
Path: Performance → Account Health → Policy Compliance → Food and Product Safety Issues.
If you see "Verify your product" → TIC-DV has been triggered.
Select an Amazon-approved TIC organization on the DV page.
Generate a unique TRF (Test Request Form) number and send it to the TIC / laboratory.
A. Samples (Send 2 complete sets of samples + accessories)
Complete machine (including battery/charger).
Instruction manual, product label, and packaging.
B. Document Checklist (All are mandatory, none can be missing)
UL507 Test Report (from an ISO17025 lab, valid within 12 months).
Note: Model, brand, and manufacturer must 100% match the Listing.
Lithium Battery Matching Reports (Exclusive to lithium battery fans).
Cell: UL1642
Battery pack: UL2054 / UL62133-2
Transportation: un38.3 + Test Summary
fcc sdoc (Normal fans, Part 15B).
Smart fans (WiFi / Bluetooth): fcc-ID
DOE Energy Efficiency (Mandatory from Feb 18, 2025).
Normal fans: ≥4.0 CFM/W
Standby: ≤0.5W
Label Photos (Actual real-life photos, no Photoshop allowed).
Must show: Model, voltage, manufacturer, origin, UL/fcc marks, prop 65 warning.
Commercial Liability Insurance (≥ $1 million USD).
Declaration of Conformity (DoC) (Signed by the manufacturer).
TIC will verify: Report authenticity, standard validity, model consistency, and label compliance.
If there are issues: Returned for rectification.
If no issues: Uploaded directly to Amazon Seller Central.
Approved: ASIN resumes normal sales.
Rejected: Listing removed; requires resending samples or supplementing reports.
The UL507 report is not from an ISO17025 lab → Directly invalid.
Model / Brand / Manufacturer does not match the Listing (watch out for case sensitivity, spaces, and model suffixes).
Report expired (older than 12 months).
Lithium battery fans are missing UL1642 / UL2054 / UN38.3 reports.
Guard Mesh Probe Test failed (the 5mm probe can touch the fan blades).
Uploading the report yourself in Seller Central (without going through TIC) → Directly rejected.
Product label is missing the Prop 65 warning (for California).
Normal Plug-in Fans (UL507 + TIC)
Testing: 5–7 business days
TIC Audit: 3–5 business days
Lithium Battery Fans (UL507 + UL1642 + UL2054 + FCC-ID + TIC)
Testing: 2–3 weeks
TIC Audit: 5–7 business days
Check applicability: Confirm if your fan is lithium battery-powered + sold on the US Marketplace → TIC required.
Check existing UL507 reports: Ensure they are from an ISO17025 lab, issued within 12 months, and have consistent model numbers.
Supplement battery reports: Get UL1642 / UL2054 / UN38.3 for lithium battery fans if missing.
Initiate TRF: Contact an Amazon whitelisted TIC organization to start the TRF process.
Execution: Send samples + full set of documents → TIC verification → Listing activated/restored.
