Amazon’s Policy on Consumer Products Containing Button or Coin Batteries

 

Amazon requires that all consumer products containing button or coin batteries and falling under the scope of 16 cfr part 1263 must be tested and comply with the following regULations, standards, and requirements.

 

Consumer products containing button batteries include but are not limited to: calculators, cameras, flameless candles, light-up clothing, shoes, holiday decorations, keychain flashlights, musical greeting cards, remote controls, and clocks.

 

For consumer products containing button or coin batteries, the following regulations, standards, and requirements must be met:

 

1. 16 CFR Part 1263 — Safety Standard for Button or Coin Batteries and Consumer Products Containing Such Batteries.

2. ANSI/UL 4200a — Safety Standard for Products Containing Button or Coin Batteries.

You must possess this information, and we may request it from you, so it is recommended to keep it readily available.

 

- Product model must be displayed on the product detail page for button batteries, coin batteries, and consumer products containing such batteries.

- Product safety instructions and user manuals for button and coin batteries and products containing such batteries.

- General Certificate of Conformity: This document must state compliance with UL 4200A and provide test results proving conformity to UL 4200A requirements.

- Testing must be conducted by an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory to confirm compliance with UL 4200A, a standard adopted under 16 CFR Part 1263 (Button or Coin Batteries and Products Containing Such Batteries).

- Test reports must include product images to verify that the tested product matches the product listed on the product detail page.
