fcc Certification 47 CFR Part 15, USA

1. Regulations on fcc part 15

FCC Part 15 is a federal regulation that sets limits on the amount of electromagnetic interference allowed for digital and electronic devices such as watches, musical instruments, computers, telephones, and low-power transmitters. Non-compliance with FCC Part 15 will have serious consequences for all parties involved with your product, including engineers, distributors, retailers, and even customers. Remedial measures taken by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission for non-compliant products include halting all distribution and imposing fines on manufacturers.

2. Scope of FCC Part 15 is Divided into the Following Three Subparts

(1) FCC Part 15A: This subpart specifies the rules for operating intentional, unintentional, or incidental radiators without individual licenses. It also includes technical specifications, as well as administrative requirements and other conditions related to the marketing of devices covered under FCC Part 15.

(2) fcc part 15b: This subpart covers the operation of intentional or unintentional radiators that do not comply with the provisions of this part and must be licensed in accordance with Section 301 of the Communications Act of 1934, USA.

(3) FCC Part 15C: Unless specifically exempted, the operation or sale of intentional or unintentional radiators that fail to meet the administrative and technical requirements of this subpart—including prior FCC authorization or verification—is prohibited under Section 302 of this subpart.

3. Two Categories of Devices under FCC Part 15

① Class A Digital Devices: Under FCC Part 15, Class A digital devices are those marketed for use in commercial, industrial, or business environments.

② Class B Digital Devices: Under FCC Part 15, Class B digital devices are those designed for use in residential or household settings. Examples of devices in this category include personal computers, calculators, and similar electronic devices available for public use in the market.

fcc certification 47 CFR Part 18, USA

① Radio Frequency (RF) Energy: Electromagnetic energy at any frequency within the radio frequency spectrum ranging from 9 kHz to 3000 GHz.

② Harmful Interference: Interference that impairs or repeatedly interrupts wireless communication systems, endangers wireless navigation systems or other safety-related systems, or causes a drastic degradation in their performance.

③ Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) Equipment: Equipment intended for domestic use or similar purposes, excluding applications in the telecommunications field. It refers to devices and apparatus primarily designed to generate RF energy for industrial, scientific, and medical applications. Typical ISM equipment is used for physical, biological, and chemical effects, such as heating, mechanical vibration, and acceleration of charged particles.

④ Product Classification: Products are mainly divided into four categories: unintentional radiators, intentional radiators, unlicensed personal communication devices, and unlicensed national basic information devices.

fcc part 18 regulates the electromagnetic energy emitted by Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) equipment operating within specific frequency spectrums, to prevent such equipment from causing harmful interference to authorized wireless communication services.

FCC Certification Part 68, USA - Connection of Terminal Equipment to Telephone Networks

Part 68 of FCC Rules (47 CFR Part 68) governs the direct connection of Terminal Equipment (TE) to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), as well as the facilities owned by wireline carriers used to provide private line services. Part 68 also includes rules on technical standards for telephone hearing aid compatibility and volume control (HAC/VC), dialing frequencies of automatic dialers, source identification for fax transmissions, and internal wiring.
