With the increasing regULatory control over product compliance in the European Union, Temu has also strengthened its qualification management. Following a crackdown on fake certifications, Temu has recently begun enforcing comprehensive control over CE-ROHS certification requirements.

Attention Sellers of Electronics and Electrical Products to Europe:

All products that meet the directive requirements must provide CE-RoHS and CE-emc certifications. Sellers can check in the backend Compliance Center to see whether they need to upload these two certifications for their products.

The platform has already started removing non-compliant products! Sellers with the requiRED certifications need to upload them as soon as possible. Sellers without the necessary certifications should get them promptly to avoid having their products removed.

Temu has also issued a new requirement stating that every model, material, and color of a product must undergo individual testing and pass the quality standards before being listed. The days of combining certifications for different models, series, or colors are over! Non-compliance could result in severe consequences.

What is RoHS?

RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances, a significant environmental regulation established by the European Union. The latest RoHS directive is 2015/863/EU, which aims to limit the use of specific hazardous substances in electronic and electrical equipment to reduce their negative impacts on the environment and human health.

What Products are Covered by RoHS?

The RoHS directive applies to electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), defined as equipment designed for a rated voltage not exceeding 1000 V AC and 1500 V DC, that operates using electric current or electromagnetic fields, or is used for generating, transmitting, or measuring such currents and fields. The specific categories include:

- Large household appliances

- Small household appliances

- Information technology and telecommunications equipment

- Consumer equipment

- Lighting equipment

- Electrical and electronic tools

- Toys, leisure, and sports equipment

- Medical devices

- Monitoring and control instruments, including industrial monitoring instruments

- Automatic dispensers

- Any other electrical and electronic equipment not covered by the above categories

Restricted Harmful Substances

With the release of new standards, China's RoHS restriction substance requirements have been updated as follows:

1. The four phthalates (DBP, BBP, DEHP, DIBP) are now included in the applicable control scope.

- a) Lead (Pb): ≤0.1%

- b) Mercury (Hg): ≤0.1%

- c) Cadmium (Cd): ≤0.01%

- d) Hexavalent Chromium (Cr(VI)): ≤0.1%

- e) Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB): ≤0.1%

- f) Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE): ≤0.1%

- g) Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP): ≤0.1%

- h) Butylbenzyl phthalate (BBP): ≤0.1%

- i) Dibutyl phthalate (DBP): ≤0.1%

- j) Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP): ≤0.1%

2. Hexavalent Chromium [Cr(VI)] should be determined negative according to the method specified in GB/T 39560.701.
