What is Wi-Fi 7?

Wi-Fi 7 (IEEE 802.11be Extremely High Throughput (EHT)) is the latest generation of wireless local area network communication standards. CompaRED to previous technologies, Wi-Fi 7 offers higher speeds, stronger interference resistance, higher spectral efficiency, and lower latency, making it an ideal choice for applications such as ULtra-high-definition (UHD) video, immersive remote conferencing, telemedicine, AR/VR/XR, and gaming systems.

On November 28, 2023, the national radio-related departments announced the testing standards for Wi-Fi 7 products, IEEE 802.11be, and authorized the commencement of srrc certification services.

Key Features of Wi-Fi 7:

- 320 MHz Channels: Larger channel bandwidth provides unprecedented high-speed experiences for users.

- Multi-Link Operation (MLO): Allows devices to send and receive data simultaneously on different frequency bands, improving network flexibility and reliability.

- 4K QAM Modulation: Compared to Wi-Fi 6’s 1024-QAM, 4K QAM offers stronger support for HD video streaming and large data transfers.

- Multi-RU Configuration: Multiple Resource Unit allocation further enhances the flexibility of spectrum resource scheduling and spectrum efficiency, making network management more efficient.

- TWT Protocol: The Target Wake Time protocol offers latency prediction and power optimization services.

- EPCS Protocol: Emergency Communication Service protocol can improve the priority and service quality of network access devices in special scenarios.

New Technical Requirements for Wi-Fi 7:

- Multi-Link Operation (MLO) feature;

- Error Vector Magnitude (EVM);

- Multi-Resource Unit (MRU) spectrum modules.

Main SRRC Testing Contents for Wi-Fi 7:

- Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power;

- Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power Spectral Density;

- Frequency Tolerance;

- Out-of-Band Emission Power;

- Spurious Emission;

- DFS;

- Adaptivity;

and other test items.
